Xiling Gorge
The Xiling Gorge, which is the longest one of the Three Gorges, stretches from the mouth of Fragrance Brook in Zigui County of Hubei Province in the west to the Nanjin Pass of Yichang City in Hubei Province in the east, with a total length of 76 km. The Siling Gorge had been well known for its numerous shoals and swift torrents. The Qintan Shoal, Konglingtan shoal used to be the most dangerous shoals in the navigation history of the Three Gorges. But since the completion of the Gezhouba Dam water Conservancy Pivotal Project, these dangerous shoals of the old days have disappeared once and for all. After impounding the water level will rise over 100 meters. This will have a little harm affect to Bingshu Baojian Gorge (military book and sward gorge). The military book and sward like things are coffins placed in the precipices. These coffins are preserved in Quanyuan Temple. The height of Ox Liver and Horse Lung of the Ox Liver and Horse Lung Gorge will be cut and preserved in new Zigui County. There is a clear brook in Xingshan County of Hubei Province. It is Know as small Lijiang River. Because of inconvenient communication, few tourists came to the Fragrant Brook. After impounding, traveler can go to Gaogang Scene Area from the mouth of the Rragrant Brook by boat.
