Holidays or Festivals along Silk Road

The Silk Road passes through so many different ethnic areas that a comprehensive list would require pages. Notable, however, is Ramadan, the Muslim month of fasting, which should be avoided if possible. During this period it may be difficult to buy food during daylight hours. The dates of Ramadan move up by about 11 days every year; in 1994 it falls between February 11 and March 12. Turpan has a grape festival during the third week of August.
