Tianjin

One of China's four municipalities directly under the Central Government, Tianjin is called Jin for short. Located in the northeastern part of the Huabei Plain, the city is screened by Yanshan in the north, bordered by the Bohai Sea in the east, and adjacent to Beijing in the northwest, which make it an important gateway to Beijing. With a total area of 11000 square kilometers, Tianjin has a population of more than 10 million. The inhabitants include the people of Han, Hui, Korea, Manchu, Mongol and other ethnic backgrounds.
Tianjin is the biggest industrial and commercial harbor city of north China. Situated In Tanggu District and Haihe River's entrance, Tianjin New Harbor is the largest man-made harbor present in China, as well as an international trade seaport, which has maintained relations with harbors in 150-odd countries and regions.

As one of national famous historical and cultural city, Tianjin is abundant in scenic spots and historical sites, which connect with scenes and sights in Beijing and Hebei, and form a big tourist zone. Major attractions in Tianjin are Tianhou Temple. Ancient cultural Street Dule Temple, Panshan Scenic Resort, Dagu Fort, Great Wall at Huangya Pass, Yangliuqing, a home to New Year pictures and Yangcun Amusement Park.

Huangya Pass
Standing 30 kilometers north of Jiaxian County, the Huangya Pass was one of the most famous passes of the Great Wall. It was originally built in 556, or the seventh year of the Tianbao reigns of the Northern Qi Dynasty, and rebuild during the Longqing reigin (1567-1572) of Ming Dynasty. This section of the Great Wall with its watchtowers, battlements and barracks and mated defense works, is built on sharp mountain ridges. Located at the juncture of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei Province, the Huangya Pass is a strategic pass holding access to the eastern part of the Great Wall, and is reputed as "the Yanmen Pass to the east of Beijing".

Panshan Scenic Resort
12 kilometers northwest of Jixian County, the Panshan Mountain was reputed as "No. 1 Mountain to the East of Beijing" for its location. The scenic resort covers an area of f106 square kilometers and has an elevation of 864 meters above sea level. Major attractions of Panshan Mountain are five peak, eight rocks and 72 Buddhist monasteries and Taoist temples and so on.

Dule Temple
Located in Jixian County, the Dule Temple, or the Solitary Joy Temple, was first constructed during the Tang Dynasty (618-907). The temple consists of a frontal archway, the Guanyin (Avalokitesvara) Pavilion, and its secondary halls. 23 meters in height, the Guanyin Pavilion stands formidable despite many earthquakes, and is one of the oldest wooden pavilion-style structures in China. Inside the pavilion is a 16-meter-high statue of Avalokitesvara with eleven faces, a rare treasure among sculptures following the style of the Liao Dynasty (916-1125).
